Meetings and Events
Starting in November 2009 meetings will normally be held at 3503 W. Kiltie Loop at 6:30 pm on the second Tuesday of each month. There is a business meeting, a demonstration, a show and tell gallery, and a fund-raising raffle at each meeting. Please join us in this great hobby!

February
Tuesday, February 14, 6:30PM: This meeting will be held at Steve Van Ooteghem's shop, 3503 W. Kiltie Loop. Don Baker will demonstrate how to make "volcano" salt and pepper shakers
January
Tuesday, January 10, 6:30PM: This meeting will be held at Steve Van Ooteghem's shop, 3503 W. Kiltie Loop. Steve will demonstrate how he does his Shaker boxes.
2011
December
Tuesday, December 13, 6:30PM: No meeting, just the annual potluck at Lin Kwis's house. Bring something good to eat and join us.
November
Tuesday, November 8, 6:30PM: This meeting will be held at Don and Jeanette Baker's shop, 3503 W. Kiltie Loop. Don will demonstrate a bowl coring tool called a Bowl Saver. It will allow a person to rough out more than one bowl from a single chunk of wood.
October
Tuesday, October 11, 6:30PM: This meeting will be held at John Giovale's shop, 450 S. River Run. John will show us how he uses his rose engine lathe for ornamental turning.
September
Tuesday, September 13, 6:30PM: This meeting will be held at Steve Van Ooteghem's shop, 3503 W. Kiltie Loop. Bob Fain will demonstrate segmented turning techniques.
August
Tuesday, August 9, 6:30PM: This meeting will be held at Steve Van Ooteghem's shop, 3503 W. Kiltie Loop. There will be a hands-on bird house turning workshop.
July
Tuesday, July 12, 6:30PM: This meeting will be held at Steve Van Ooteghem's shop, 3503 W. Kiltie Loop. Paul Porter from Phoenix will demonstrate turning end grain and side grain natural edge bowls. You can see examples of his work at paulporterwoodturning.com.
June
Tuesday, June 14, 6:30PM: This meeting will be held at Steve Van Ooteghem's shop, 3503 W. Kiltie Loop. Carl Smith will show us how to use a chatter tool for ornamentation. There will be an opportunity for members to try using the tool.
May
Saturday, May 20/21: Hands-on. Two all day training sessions will be held in Steve's shop. Members may sign up for either day but not both. Phil Stivers www.philstivers.com who is on the woodworking faculty of Palomar College will teach us how to make globe ornaments with delicate finials. We will use the tools we created in February and March.
April
Tuesday, April 12, 6:30PM: This meeting will be held at Steve Van Ooteghem's shop, 3503 W. Kiltie Loop. Don Jordan of the Prescott Area Woodturners will demonstrate making a pierced egg box.
March
Saturday, March 26, 1:00PM: Hands-on. This meeting will be held at Steve Van Ooteghem's shop, 3503 W. Kiltie Loop. The second of two hands-on tool making meetings in preparation for a class in May. We will make handles for the two scrapers which we made at the February meeting. Please come even if you weren't at the meeting in February because handle making is good basic spindle work
February
Saturday, February 26, 1:00PM: Hands-on. This meeting will be held at Steve Van Ooteghem's shop, 3503 W. Kiltie Loop. The first of two hands-on tool making meetings in preparation for a class in May. Carol Reed will guide us in making two scrapers which we will use to fashion a globe ornament with a slender finial in May.

Tuesday, January 11, 6:30PM: This meeting will be held at Steve Van Ooteghem's shop, 3503 W. Kiltie Loop. Allan Boutwell will show us how to do a durable highly polished finish using CA glue and super fine sandpaper.
